Here’s a sneak peak at the trends Glamour mag predict will be big this Autumn…

Rainbow Bright
From the electric blue satin dress and sandals at Paul Smith, to the berry shades at Pucci, the way to wear colour, if you’re brave enough, is head-to-toe, à la Mrs Beckham. Stella McCartney’s hot pink jumpsuit, teamed with her fuchsia satin court shoes would be a fierce way to work the trend, but faint-hearted fashionistas can get away with wearing one piece as an accent note to an outfit.

The Right Trousers
We love the slouchy, wide-legged pants, reminiscent of Katherine Hepburn’s coolly masculine style, seen at Todd Lynn and Michael Kors. Wear with a tailored shirt and patent heels to luxe up the look. Celebs who have already been working this look include Katie Holmes, who was spotted in a tartan pair while playing with baby Suri in a Berlin park. We also love Stella McCartney’s soft, grey leggings, which look fab under a jumper dress or tunic, and the crispness of Marc Jacobs’ cigarette pants.

Quick March
If your coat doesn’t have two rows of shiny buttons down the front this autumn, it simply will not do. Military detailing was all over the catwalks and made a particularly strong appearance on coats of all varieties. From the cherry-red trench and floor-skimming navy coat with hot pink detailing at Luella, to the swingy jacket with brass buttons at Marc by Marc Jacobs, a smart military cover up will make any outfit stand to attention.

The Sack Is Back
For a few seasons designers have been sending short, shapeless dresses down the catwalk under a variety of monikers – ‘tunic’, ‘trapeze’, ‘smock’, and now, ‘the sack’. The rules remain the same – unless you’re blessed with a supermodel’s perfect pins, avoid wearing this style with flats, and go for the highest heels you can manage instead. Trusty black opaque tights are an essential too. Luckily the horrors of being offered a seat on the bus because people think you’re pregnant are over – this season’s sacks are tightly cinched in with wide belts to create a strong new silhouette.
